My Hanna Worries

Ok. So, right now, we are experiencing the beginnings of Tropical Storm Hanna. It's raining like a mother. The wind is howling. The possibility of losing electric is very high. Am I worried about not having the TV to watch? Nope. Am I worried that the babies milk will go bad and the juice go warm? Nope. Am I worried that the meat will thaw and spoil? Not in the least. Am I worried that the wine will not be chilled? Sort of (just must drink it faster). So, if I am not worried about any of those things...what is my main concern???

HOW AM I GOING TO HAVE MY COFFEE IN THE MORNING?????????

Yup. That is my number one concern. Hands down. I am trying to stay calm and collected. Keep a level head, ya know? Gotta think of something and FAST, just in case. Ok. I can send my husband to my local Starbucks to get me a double venti vanilla latte. JINKIES!!!!! If I don't have electricity, chances are, they don't either. *sigh* Now what??? What if we don't have electricity for a few days? What if the water is tainted and we can't make coffee for WEEKS????? OH DEAR LORD!!! WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS BEFORE WE MOVED DOWN HERE!!!!! WE NEVER LOST POWER UP HOME AND IF WE DID, IT WAS ONLY FOR A FEW HOURS AND ONLY IN HALF THE TOWN SO A RIDE TO SHEETZ SOLVED THE PROBLEM!!!!!

Sorry. Got excited. Off to chew several java beans, finish off the 3 bottles of wine and pray for wakeless sleep till the storm has passed and the electricity returns. I mean, if the power goes off at all. Guess I got ahead of myself.

Sweating like George Bush and Karl Rove in Church

All I can say is DAMN IT'S HOT!!!!!

Now, I understand that this is pretty typical for South Carolina, especially here in the Charleston area but please note: I AM A NATIVE PENNSYLVANIAN. It is NEVER this hot up there unless you are digging a fallen piece of chicken nugget out of the bottom of a 400 degree oven. Ok, as I write this, I can hear my husband's voice nagging me in my ear that I hate to be cold and to that I say BUT IN THE WINTER, YOU CAN PUT MORE CLOTHES ON HENCE THE REASON I KNIT NICE AND TOASTY GARMENTS. IN THE SUMMER, YOU CAN ONLY TAKE OFF SO MUCH AND SPARE YOUR CHILDREN PERMANENT EYE DAMAGE. Know what I mean????

On the knitting front, I am finishing up the second arm of the pinwheel sweater. It should be finished up tonight while I watch Supernanny with my screaming children and sleeping husband. I think I will add a couple inches of crochet border instead of that i-cord along the edge. Perhaps in a contrasting color....

So much to do...so little coffee

First and foremost, my daughter has returned from spending the summer with her dad in PA. Her not being with me is like missing an arm...which makes knitting VERY difficult...

Speaking of knitting...

Bubba's sweater was coming along nicely until.....

Notice anything a bit off???? That's right! I started and stopped at the exact same place in the pattern 3 different times. So off to the land of rippit I go. I frogged back to where I was supposed to be and haven't touched it since because I have been preparing for the Ravelympics.

I have decided to make a pinwheel sweater as a gift and Summerbreeze for my daughter. I am making a practice pinwheel for my youngest daughter to get comfy with the pattern and yarn.

It is a very easy knit. I decided to do an afterthought arm hole as opposed to the provisional cast on that the pattern called for. The directions were not clear to me so after doing some research, I found the afterthought and thought it perfect. Gonna be GREAT!!!! I am currently on the last row and am about ready to bind off then work up the arms.

AND NOW UP ON TO THE SOAPBOX I GO!!!!
Please remember to love your family and appreciate every single second that you have with them. Yes, they may drive you crazy and yes, quiet down time is good too, but revel in their love for you and yours for them for one day, one of you will be gone and all that may be left is regret and tears. Whether it may be to mend a broken friendship or going the extra mile for a loved one, do something important today. It will come back to you ten fold.

Been a busy week for our family. We spend Sunday at the Magnolia Plantation. What a beautiful place. It was really hot for the kiddos but worth the trip. The best part was a boat ride through the old rice fields watching for birds and gators. Saw plenty of both (only 2 gators...but those who know me know that that is more than enough =). I would love to go back with just my husband (or just solo) and take more pics. I could take rolls and rolls and never get it all.

On the knitting front, still working on DH's sweater. It is coming along well. About 3 inches above the arm holes which means about 7 inches from the neck. Not bad, not bad....

Still pouting about being put on a yarn diet by my DH. I must say, though, that he was right, and I was wrong but taking away new yarn from a knitter is like takin a bottle from a newborn baby. But I digress....

Happy Friday!!!!

I have spent a majority of the day trying to design a pillow cover for my MIL. She makes and sells pillows and has asked me to make a contribution. Me being me, of course I said SURE!!!!! But now I am trying to come up with the perfect pillow and all is not well in the land of design. I have started (and frogged) 2 different designs. As I write this, I am brainstorming hard-core on a new idea and I think it may be a winner....

Another of my current projects is a sweater for my husband. I found the pattern in The Best of Interweave Knits book and LOVE IT!!!!!

What do you think? It is being made in Olive green (per my husbands request) and is really quite stunning, if I may say so myself....

It's Monday, right?

Here it is. Another Monday in a lifetime full of them. I must say, though, that being a stay at home mom makes it kind of hard to keep track of days, especially in the summer when there is no school.

I have spent a majority of the day trying to finish my daughter's blanket that I am knitting for her to put in her bedroom at her dad's house. She doesn't care for the polka dot one that her soon to be step-mom picked out. Can't say that I blame her there....

My children are pushing me closer and closer to the edge. My son Maddox, who is 2, has decided that his sister makes a wonderful punching bag and is CONVINCED that she loves to be pushed over. As Olivia is my daughter, she expresses her disdain immediately and promptly runs to mommy for a consolation hug before running off to begin the whole process again. I am rather anxiously waiting the day that she suddenly decides that she has had quite enough of the bullying and wails him a good one. Again....she IS my daughter.
